I'm inspired by people who speak their truths, especially concerning scripted films. We are seeing more of an array of stories, tales that are final about people who look like the diverse community that we live in. We have so far to go, but I'm encouraged by the direction where we're headed and it inspires me to do more in my field.
Nina Shelton is founder and CEO of Crossing Barriers. With decades of experience, she is an award-winning producer, writer and director having worked for HBO, Hallmark Channel, PBS, Disney and others. She's developed and created over a dozen of scripted and unscripted content and has produced hundreds of hours of programming. Nina was a fellow recipient of the American Film Institute (AFI) Digital Content Lab. She was also a New Media Fellow with the National Black Programming Consortium through the Corporation of Public Broadcasting. Nina is currently a PBS producer with Arizona Public Media in Tucson, while earning a Masters in Entrepreneurship with the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. She received a BFA from New York University.
