The students I teach inspire me. Their light and raw talent, untouched by society and the adult-world provides an authentic and unique perspective to life, relationships, and conflict. Growing with them helps me make sense of my own, and transforms the stories I choose to tell.
Amee Apedo is an award-winning actress, writer, producer, and director. She is also a public school educator and the founder of the mission Black & Unrestrained, in support of POC communities. In her youth, Amee found her passion in arts and entertainment through theater and received constant inspiration from her unorthodox family and life experiences growing up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. She later graduated from Brooklyn College with a BA in Film (Screenwriting) and African-American Studies. In 2018, she founded Amivi Productions with the belief that storytelling is an instrument for community-building, self-realization, and healing. With her work, she strives to explore, expose, and expand Black culture across the African Diaspora.
