INSPIRATION

Kenya Barris inspires me because he's a smart writer who's dedicated to comedy and people of color.

BIO

Alysha is a recent graduate of USC's MFA program in Film & TV Production. Her focus is writing and directing for comedy. From Manchester, NH Alysha proudly represents her unique identity as a queer bi-racial filmmaker. After attending Simmons University for her undergraduate studies in English and communications, she moved to LA to pursue her filmmaking dreams. Since then, she's interned for Lena Waithe, Amazon Studios, HBO, Partizan Productions, MACRO and Film Independent. Alysha’s mission is to use her films to raise awareness about underrepresented communities. Her creative expression challenges racism, sexism, and gender inequality. First and foremost, she believes Comedy is the best tool to spread messages of change. In 2018, she was awarded first place in USC's Jack Oakie Film Festival for her film Finding Negro, a comedy about race relations within the Black Lives Matter organization. Alysha aspires to own her own production company that spotlights diverse storytellers, and creates a safe work environment for womxn in film.
