BIO

Rae Benjamin is a comedy writer, born in Los Angeles and raised on a steady diet of cartoons and Nick at Nite. Her mother encouraged her writing from a young age and compiled booklets of her poetry and short stories to hand out as Christmas gifts each year…this was either super cute or super cheap, depending on who you ask. Although she always enjoyed storytelling, she didn’t consider a career in screenwriting until after graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a (now useless) degree in Political Science. As any millennial worthy of the name, she spent the better part of her twenties in existential angst, bouncing around from one career to another. She’s been a yoga teacher for wealthy toddlers, an EDM club promoter, a graphic designer at a hipster startup, a dancer in a Disneyland parade, and much more. She draws from her multitude of experiences to give her writing a specific and unique point of view.

Rae was the writer’s assistant on the upcoming Shondaland/Netflix production, "Bridgerton" and currently works as the script coordinator on the international Netflix hit, "The Witcher." In January 2020, Rae founded In the Cut LLC, an organization dedicated to increasing transparency for black creatives and other marginalized communities.
